Books That Shaped Me

Every book on this list has left a mark. Some changed how I see myself. Others changed how I see the world. All of them are worth your time.

Books Are Compressed Wisdom

Books have been some of my greatest teachers. One at the right time can save you years of suffering. These are the ones that did that for me, and that I recommend most to the people I coach.

01

Meditations

Marcus Aurelius

The personal journal of a Roman emperor. A masterclass in what it means to live with discipline, virtue, and inner calm in the face of adversity. I return to this every year.

02

Discourses

Epictetus

Raw, direct, and uncompromising. Epictetus cuts through everything and gets straight to the one thing that matters: focus only on what is within your control.

03

How to Be a Stoic

Massimo Pigliucci

A modern guide to living stoically. Practical, grounded, and accessible without losing the depth of the philosophy.

04

The Daily Stoic

Ryan Holiday

365 meditations on wisdom, perseverance, and the art of living. A book I kept coming back to daily for years.

05

The Untethered Soul

Michael A. Singer

One of the most important books I have ever read. A profound exploration of consciousness, the inner voice, and what true freedom actually feels like.

06

Waking Up

Sam Harris

A secular, science-based case for meditation and spirituality. Honest, rigorous, and genuinely mind-expanding.

07

Wherever You Go, There You Are

Jon Kabat-Zinn

Mindfulness at its most accessible. A gentle but powerful reminder that the present moment is always available to you.

08

The 48 Laws of Power

Robert Greene

Not comfortable reading, but essential. Understanding power, human nature, and the games people play is part of living with eyes open.

09

Four Thousand Weeks

Oliver Burkeman

A brilliant and sobering look at time, mortality, and what it actually means to spend your life well. Changed how I think about productivity entirely.

10

Awareness

Anthony De Mello

Short, sharp, and deeply confronting. De Mello cuts through ego, conditioning, and illusion with a clarity that is rare. Read slowly.

11

The Happiness Hypothesis

Jonathan Haidt

Ancient wisdom meets modern psychology. A fascinating exploration of what actually makes human beings happy and why we so often look in the wrong places.

12

Ikigai

Hector Garcia & Frances Miralles

The Japanese concept of finding your reason for being. A calm, reflective read on purpose, longevity, and what it means to live a meaningful life.

13

The Mindful Athlete

George Mumford

Secrets to pure performance through mindfulness. Mumford worked with Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. The mental edge is real, and this book shows you how to build it.
